My name is Christopher Andrew Mulholland, a self-taught Maritime Draftsman and Historian with over 22 years of experience specializing in historically accurate ship plans. Every commission is produced entirely by hand using traditional drafting techniques—the same methods employed by shipbuilders and naval architects before the age of computer-aided design.

The Commission Process

Every project begins with a conversation.

Simply send me an email describing the vessel you have in mind and the type of drawing you are interested in. If you have photographs, plans, or other reference material, feel free to include them.

From there, I will:

1. Review your project.

2. Discuss your ideas and answer any questions you may have.

3. Determine the available historical reference material.

4. Provide you with a free, no-obligation quotation.

5. Schedule your commission once it has been accepted.

6. Keep you updated with progress throughout the drafting process.

Because every drawing is created entirely by hand, completion times vary depending on the size and complexity of the commission. My goal is always quality rather than speed, ensuring that every drawing receives the attention it deserves.

Pricing

Every commission is unique, so pricing is determined individually.

Factors that influence the cost include:

• Size of the vessel
• Complexity of the subject
• Type of drawing requested
• Scale
• Level of historical research required
• Overall project scope

A detailed quotation is always provided before any work begins, and there is absolutely no obligation to proceed.

Commission Reservation

To reserve your place in my commission schedule, a non-refundable $75.00 reservation fee is required once your quotation has been accepted.

This reservation fee is credited in full toward the final cost of your commission and allows me to begin research, planning, and scheduling for your project.

The remaining balance may be paid according to an agreed-upon payment schedule. Flexible payment plans are available, making larger commissions more manageable while your drawing is being completed.

Because each commission requires a significant investment of time and research, reservation fees are non-refundable. However, they ensure that your place in my commission schedule is reserved and that your project receives the time and attention it deserves.
